 California's Temecula Wine Festival is the New World wine capitol and with good reason. To begin with, it is a very large state; taken by itself it has one of the largest economies in the world.
It spans a great distance and has climates that range from dessert to temperate and there is some of the best skiing in North America.
This creates many different wine regions that each has unique characteristics. A chardonnay from Southern California is very different than one from Mendocino.
Areas are so distinct that even a single county can get sub-divided.
 Most people have heard of Sonoma County and of Napa Valley but what most people don't know is that Napa Valley is in Sonoma but the wines are distinctly different.
There can be little doubt that Californians love their wine and finding a wine festival is as hard as finding hair on a dog; it is not very hard. If that is the case, why go to the Temecula Wine Festival? It is because it is a lot more than just an outside wine tasting. This type of wine festival can not be experienced anywhere but in the Temecula Valley. We have brought this type of festival to a whole new level. That is what makes it a must-see.
Sample The Regions Wine At The Temecula Wine Festival
 Temecula Valley is part of the rolling hills of Southern California Wine Country.
Every year for the last 27 years they have married wine with the most romantic of sports, hot air ballooning.
You can sample many of the regions wines while enjoying the festival atmosphere of floating balloons while main stream bands perform live on the main stage.
You can also make a reservation for a 3-course meal, each done by a different chef, with wine pairings.
Even if you are not quite old enough to remember Spro Gyra you can still enjoy the afternoon in the famous wine garden or visit the food court to taste food from around the world, from Greek lamb to fried Twinkies.
Make sure to your pace yourself, you will want to be there until dusk.
On the nights of the festival, they tether the balloons to those rolling hills where they fire their burners. They look like the Chinese lanterns sprinkled across the land. It is a great way to end the day.
