Temecula Driver License Information To Know About
If you’re a new driver or just new to the area, getting to know your Temecula DMV is an important step.
If you’re getting your driver’s license, this is an exciting time of new responsibility for you. It is crucial that you have proper identification with you at the DMV. These documents must be authentic and accurate.
State law requires that everyone who applies for a California driver license show documentation that verifies their birthplace and date, and proves they are a legal resident of the United States.
One thing you will need to submit is your social security number to the DMV. Your SSN is confidential and will not appear on your license.
You will also need to prove vision acuity before being granted a license. The DMV handles this examination as well. Most likely you will just have to read an eye chart inside the DMV from a set distance.
Are You Applying For A Commercial Driver License?
This is a license that will allow you to operate a commercial vehicle. It is issued in accordance with Federal Regulations, and only drivers 18 and older are eligible. Drivers aged 18-21 are allowed to drive for hire but only within California. Drivers must be 21 or older to drive any commercial vehicle across state lines.
Regulations require that anyone applying to be a commercial driver disclose whether they have had a driver’s license to operate any type of vehicle in a different state at any point over the last ten years. As of 2005 applicants must also undergo a security threat assessment, or background check.
Your Computer Is A Great Resource Center
A great resource for any driver, new or old, is the DMV’s highly comprehensive website.
There are several convenient online services-you can set up an appointment, renew your vehicle registration, and access a variety of printable DMV forms.
There is also plenty of information for you to browse by category. For example, the site will walk you through what to do if you have lost your license or had it stolen, and give you a list of license and I.D fees you can expect.
There are special links geared toward senior drivers and teen drivers as well.
The site is a good starting place for information gathering, so that when you make your eventual trip to the DMV it will be as an informed, responsible driver.
